We got a half table at APE in SF, and it was fun. Sold some books, but bought way more stuff. So many good artists and amazing art.

Highlight: meeting Rebecca Sugar and Scott C. =D I turn into a blubbering fool, but they were awesomely sweet about it.

Quick Warm up sketch. Parasite attached itself to a spine of an animal, controlling it and using it's digestive organs, as the parasite doesn't have any itself.

Nights Project: Aladdin the Puppet FINISHED!

FINALLY finished with this illustration. Been working on this for MONTHS. I had the worst artist block with this piece.

This was from my take of the frame story in the Arabian Nights. The Vizier turned mad and twisted, scorned by his wife's betrayal. Instead of killing a newly wed wife every night he maims and disfigures her until he sees her no longer as a person and he keeps them around as his pets.

The heroin Scheherazade learns of his madness, and keeps him at bay with her stories, this one in particular is Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.

4th image of the Talking Bird in the last tale of the Arabian Nights. The bird is one of 3 treasures, which she takes home as well; the Talking Bird, the Singing Tree, and the Golden Water.

All 3 are depicted here in the manner that she took home, a twig from the tree and a flask of the water. The bird itself fell enamored with the princess and allowed her to take him home.

Composition and value slapdown.

The Karkadann (wikipedia page) is the Arabian unicorn; they've been described as beasts that live in grassy fields and sandy deserts with one horn of mythical qualities. They respond to virgins and they are big enough to hunt elephants, carrying their prey by hooking them on their horn.

I've made mine a desert dwelling leviathan, borrowing from the origins of the karkadann (rhinos!) and the Chinese Qilin, which when describe sounds like almost the same creature.I've attached a couple of quick sketches and thumbs for the final illustration.

Sketch for my second drawing for the Nights Project book. The tale of the ebony horse has intrigued me for a long time, as it is possibly one of the earliest concept of a robot, or a mechanical vehicle. I read it as a sci fi tale, and I thought illustrating it as such was fitting.

A siren of sorts, when it senses victims nearby she will prop up her head too look more like a flower with a woman, alone and vulnerable, sitting atop of it. It may lure it's victim close enough for the beast to attack, or even right into the fleshy flower where it's maw lay at the base and it's strong petals close down and grips the victim tight.

24 Hour Bloodline stuff

24 Hour Bloodline is a video game project i've been working on, and I haven't done too many Concept art, since I've been stuck with UI basically. THis is the reason I've been so busy lately. We made a demo for our booth in WonderCon2009 which I thought was pretty awesome. We're still working on the battle system and the battle menu, so I'm going to post a UI element from it.

I'm currently working on some more profiles. Trying to get this done by Monday (GDC)

Our final project is to choose whatever subject we want, and produce at least 5 images for it, and enough pre-production sketches and stuff for a final presentation. That had to look nice. In 2 weeks. It was hellish, especially I had work for the first week. I took a week off, but it was still hard.

Here are some sketches, since the final images I made I want to publish in Caravan Tales, so I'm going to leave those out for the time being.

Some stuff I did for Ill2, where we illustrate a children's book image. Mine is going to be of the Ebony Horse in the 1001 Nights. I'm also using this assignment as my 2nd illustration for Caravan Tales.

Also, I'm taking a 3d modeling intro class this semester. I'm currently modeling a corgi, and here's a screen of a smoothed model. I've worked more on it since I took it, so it looks a lot better now.

Prelim work for my hw for Illustration 2. It's an editorial piece on the fat kid epidemic. The idea is that this problem is "blossoming" or "flowering" from TV, computer, games, etc. that keeps the kids inside and sitting down. Also it's just fun to do fat kids.
